Hampton Beach Transportation Options

How to Get There, Get Around and Get Home

There's no one way to get to Hampton Beach or to tool around New Hampshire's beautiful Seacoast Region. Here's a thumbnail sketch of travel choices.

Most people venture to Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, in their own vehicle. If you are driving a car, whether it be a rental or your own, be sure that the place at which you're staying has free parking. Parking is at a premium in Hampton Beach and much of what is used by day-trippers is metered.

If flying to Hampton Beach, you'll most likely land at the Manchester, NH, airport or Logan Airport in Boston, MA. From there you can rent a car or take a limo service to the Seacoast area and then, if you do not have a car, a taxi to Hampton Beach.

Amtrak's Downeaster runs from Portland, ME, through the Seacoast of New Hampshire and into Boston. If traveling to Hampton beach, riders will go to either Durham or Exeter, NH, and take a taxi to Hampton Beach.

The Hampton Beach Trolley takes vacationers up and down the coastal route with stops in the Hampton area, Market Square in Portsmouth, NH and the Kittery Outlet Malls in ME. The trolley also connects vacationers with campgrounds, hotels and motels and area beaches. For more information, you can access this service via: http://www.hamptonbeach.org/trolley.cfm. Also, the COAST bus line serves the entire Seacoast region.

Major car rental companies offer services. Local touring can be done via bike rentals, which are available in Hampton Beach. There is a small airport in Hampton at which prop planes can land. Finally, Greyhound runs to the City of Portsmouth.

You do not need a car in order to see the New Hampshire Seacoast and if you're planning on staying entirely in Hampton Beach, you won't use your car at all. Everything within Hampton Beach is accessible by foot. Seacoast trolleys and buses will help you find your way, although a car will conveniently allow you to go anywhere at anytime fairly quickly.
