Hampton Beach Volleyball Tournament
Amidst the Sun and Sand Teams Vie for Prestige and Cash Prizes
The event, which is presented by the Hampton Beach Village District and the Hampton Park and Recreation Department, was started in 2006 and proved to be popular immediately.
On a weekend in mid-August, volleyball teams battle for awards and prizes on Hampton Beach south of the Seashell Stage between G St. and M St. There are men's and women's AA and A divisions.
The competition is filled with pinpoint serves, tough spikes and athletic dives. Over the course of two days, men and women will for prizes ranging from $100 to $300 and awards that include various gift certificates. There's a trophy for the best beach business team.
To compete, players must be at least 18-years old and part of a two-person team. Teams are not required to be sponsored by a business but may be. The final evening of the competition, Sunday, includes two performances by the Air Force Band at the Seashell Stage and a fireworks display. This event starts right as the Children's Festival is winding down, making the third week of August especially busy at Hampton Beach.
