Let us show you the best of New Hampshire, on foot. Starting in the famous White Mountains of New Hampshire, you and 11 other intrepid souls will run day and night through some of the most picturesque scenery on earth, before finishing on the sands of Hampton Beach. One of the oldest relays in America, this overnight adventure makes testing your limits a team sport. With staff and volunteers handling every detail from checkpoint logistics to homemade soup, you’ll feel like you’re running in your own hometown… if your hometown were 200 miles long.
The Reach The Beach (RTB) Relay is one of the oldest and longest running relay races in the United States. Reach the Beach will take place in picturesque New Hampshire during the start of the New England foliage season. The event will start at the Bretton Woods Ski area.
From there, the course will take teams through the White Mountains of New Hampshire, past fields, lakes, mountain top vistas, and the occasional covered bridge ultimately finishing along the Atlantic coastline at Hampton Beach State Park – NH.
Hampton Beach is located one hour from downtown Boston off of I-95 and is just 10 miles south of Portsmouth, NH. Its beautiful beaches and many state parks make it a major three-season tourist destination. The finish area at the Hampton Beach State Park will host a post race party for all competitors, sponsors, volunteers, family and friends. There will also be provisions for massage, music, food, and fun.
The “Why?” question is a little tricky. Not because it’s hard to find a reason — because there are as many reasons as runners. Everyone takes something different from the race — often something they never expected.
First of all, you’re going to feel great as you train. Running unlocks a little magic in your legs, your lungs, and your brain. Then there’s the earned satisfaction you’ll feel running so many miles in so few hours. Those are the big reasons. On top of that, you get to see gorgeous countryside in a unique way, sharing it with your best (or soon-to-be best) friends. Nothing brings people together like sharing a moment of personal triumph.
